Frequently asked questions.

The answers we give most often — on cosmetic dentistry, costs, travel, insurance, and what to expect from a visit.

What makes your practice different from other cosmetic dentists?
Two things. First, our office is one of only two in the world with two AACD Accredited Fellows — Dr. Bill Strupp and Dr. Michael Brumm. Fellowship is the highest credential in cosmetic dentistry, held by fewer than 100 dentists worldwide. Second, we have a fully equipped in-house dental laboratory with master ceramists who have more than 100 years of combined experience. Less than 3% of dental offices have this — and for complex cases, it changes what's possible.
How much does a smile makeover cost?
Smile makeover pricing varies widely depending on what the case requires — veneers only, a combination of bonding and veneers, or a comprehensive restorative plan that includes implants or full-arch work. Typical porcelain veneer cases at our practice range from approximately $2,500–$3,500 per tooth, with full smile designs typically running from $15,000 to $50,000+. You'll receive a precise, written estimate after your consultation — no guessing.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
With proper hygiene and regular dental visits, modern porcelain veneers routinely last 15–20+ years. The materials we use and the precision of our in-house lab give veneers the best possible chance of a long life.
Do you accept dental insurance?
Our practice is out-of-network with all dental insurance plans — by choice. This independence allows us to recommend the materials, the time, and the standard of care each patient deserves, without the constraints of an insurance contract. As a courtesy, we'll file claims on your behalf so you can capture any out-of-network benefits available under your plan. Because much of our work is cosmetic and restorative in nature, insurance typically reimburses only a portion; we quote every treatment in full and note what your plan is likely to contribute, so there are no surprises.
I live out of state — can you still see me?
Yes. Most of our patients are from across the Tampa Bay region, but we do see patients who travel from further away for cosmetic and reconstructive cases. Tampa International Airport is about 20 minutes from our office. For complex cases that require multiple visits, we'll work with you on a treatment schedule that fits the trip. See our Travel to Clearwater page for details.
How do I know if I need a crown, veneer, or just bonding?
That's exactly what a consultation is for. Generally: bonding is best for small cosmetic fixes (chips, small gaps), veneers are for improving the visible front surface of a tooth that's otherwise healthy, and crowns are used when a tooth has significant structural damage. Our goal is always the most conservative option that gives you a great long-term result.
Can you fix results from a previous dentist I'm not happy with?
Often yes. Retreatment of prior dental work is one of the most common reasons patients find their way to us. We'll evaluate what can be preserved, what should be replaced, and give you a frank assessment of what a better result would require.
Do you offer sedation?
We offer nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") and oral sedation for anxious patients. For more extensive procedures, we can coordinate with an anesthesiologist for IV sedation. We'll talk through your comfort options at your consultation.
How should I prepare for my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), any prior dental records or X-rays from a previous dentist, and a list of medications you take. Most importantly, come with your questions — there's no such thing as a silly one.
Do you treat children or is this an adults-only practice?
Our practice is primarily focused on cosmetic and restorative care for adults. For pediatric dentistry, we're happy to refer you to an excellent pediatric dentist in the Clearwater area.
